Fear what’s inside this ANNIHILATION exploration list of ten movies

The unknown is something that most of us naturally fear. On the other hand, curiosity often gets the best of us to a certain degree. Exploring these compelling principles are what should make Paramount Pictures’ new sci-fi drama Annihilation just so intriguing.

Lena (Natalie Portman), a biologist and former soldier, joins a mission to figure out what happened to her husband (played by Oscar Isaac) while exploring a mysterious phenomenon that is being called “The Shimmer”. Inside, they find a world full of mutated landscape and creatures, as dangerous as it is beautiful, that threatens both their lives and their sanity. Many questions will need to be answered if they hope to make sense of this dangerous discovery.

Watch the trailer for Alex Garland’s sophomore directorial work (Ex Machina (2014) being his first) if you need a bit more of a visual of what to expect (and I wouldn’t blame you). Further down this page is a list of ten movies that will have you fearing the unknown. Exploration can be a VERY dangerous endeavor. Be sure to see Annihilation in theaters starting Friday, February 23rd. And as always, there will be full spoiler-free review awaiting your eager eyes on that day as well.
