At 16 years old, Nicole Paultre-Bell met the love of her life, Sean Bell. They quickly fell in love and started a family, planning to marry on November 25, 2006. However, on the morning of their wedding, Sean was tragically shot and killed by overzealous police officers. Nicole’s world was thrown into turmoil and grief. The father of her young daughters, the man she had hoped to spend her life with, was taken from her—gunned down in the streets. After two agonizing years of waiting for justice, Nicole’s hopes were shattered when all the officers involved were acquitted.
