About the film (courtesy of Disney):
Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In Frozen 2, she must hope they are enough.
Frozen 2 was a fun revisit to the land of Arendelle. It opens with a slightly older and wiser Anna and Elsa as the sisters have settled into their peaceful lives. All seems perfect until, as always happens in life, change comes about. This adventure takes our heroines and their supporting cast farther north to solve mysteries and correct past wrongs. The story is a little darker than the first Frozen (2013), but still magical and fun in all the ways you should expect from a Disney film.
The cast once again does an excellent job singing what will likely become the next hit songs amongst your little princesses and princes. Idina Menzel, as Elsa, astounds us with her amazing voice with more than one inspiring song in this sequel. Kristen Bell has another fun solo and does a great job reprising her role as the quirky Anna. Jonathan Groff, as Kristoff, gives us a fun rendition of what feels like a 1980s rock love ballad. Those of you who watched MTV videos in the 80’s will appreciate that scene. And finally Josh Gad once again brings the lovable Olaf to life. Giving him more personality as he grows into an older and wiser snowman.
Although the story was not perfect, nor unpredictable, the pure joy on the face of the little girl sitting in front of me when the credits rolled told me everything I needed to know. Disney will likely have another hit on their hands. If you liked the first Frozen, then you should go see Frozen 2. Now playing in theaters everywhere.
