Time for a Reel INSIDE OUT 2 review

About the film (courtesy of Disney and Pixar):
This film returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.

Okay, I’ll admit it. When my mom said we were going to see Inside Out 2, I rolled my eyes. I mean, the first one was cute, but it was definitely geared towards girls. But hey, I’m 13, and sometimes you just gotta go with the flow. Turns out, I was wrong. Inside Out 2 is a movie for everyone, regardless of your gender or even your age.

Inside Out 2 takes place a few years after the first one. Riley’s a teenager now, dealing with all the awkwardness and confusion that comes with growing up. This time, it’s not just Joy and Sadness running the show. We meet new emotions like Anxiety (who’s kinda funny in a nervous way) and Ennui (who’s basically the king of boredom).

The animation is awesome, just like the first movie. The colors are vibrant, and the characters are expressive. But what really got me was how relatable Riley’s struggles were. I mean, I’ve totally felt that overwhelming anxiety before a big game, and I’ve definitely experienced that feeling of just not caring about anything.

Inside Out 2 doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff. It deals with real issues like social pressure, changing friendships, and the feeling of not fitting in. It’s honest, and it’s emotional, but it’s also funny and heartwarming.

So, if you’re a kid like me, don’t be fooled by the title. Inside Out 2 is more than just a sequel. It’s a movie about growing up, figuring out who you are, and learning to embrace all your emotions, even the messy ones. Trust me, you won’t regret seeing it.

Inside Out 2 is now playing in theaters everywhere.
