Sonic the Hedgehog returns to the big screen this holiday season in the most thrilling adventure yet. Sonic, Knuckles and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with power unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is one of the top anticipated movies of the year. Sonic is originally a video game series adapted into shows and now movies. Sonic the Hedgehog has been around since June 23rd 1991. Sonic has been a beloved series ever since it was created, loved by millions. If you didn’t already know Sonic, he is a blue hedgehog with many friends. Although there are many characters in the Sonic world, the new movies produced by Paramount Pictures focus on Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and now Shadow. Now let’s get into 2024’s review of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is an incredible addition to the Sonic world of games, movies, and stories. All of the aspects of the film were incredibly done. From storytelling down to the smallest details of costume coloring to match the games. The CGI for Sonic and his friends continues to excel. The animations for the speed trails off of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow continue to bring the series into live action. The introduction of Shadow brings with it Keanu Reeves, who’s voice over work does an amazing job bringing his mysteriousness to life. If you are a fan of Keanu you won’t be disappointed with his voice work as Shadow.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 continues to tell the story of Sonic’s adventures on Earth with his new found family. Throughout the series his family has grown. In the first movie his family consists of his two human friends Tom and Maddie and their dog Ozzy. In Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022), the family grows to include Tails and Knuckles, Sonic’s new friends from his world. Now in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, we are introduced to Shadow. Shadow is another hedgehog from Sonic’s world with a tragic backstory. We are able to see similarities between Sonic and Shadow and how they resemble the two different sides of a coin. Both Sonic and Shadow have trauma in their lives but handle it differently, but like when you flip a coin both come to a conclusion.
All the Sonic movies focus on family, friends, and love, and how these are used to overcome trauma and tragedy. This is a great trend that I have enjoyed seeing continued throughout the series. The new adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 contains many hilarious scenes showing some resemblances to the two movies before it. This addition contains many new exciting and super cool fight scenes exceeding my expectations. Sonic and his friends must once again fight to defend the world. Will they succeed find-out on December 20th? Find out for yourselves only in theaters.
