Time for a Reel MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU review

About the film (courtesy of Universal Pictures):
This summer, from the biggest animated franchise in history and global cultural phenomenon, comes the untold story of one 12-year-old’s dream to become the world’s greatest supervillain. In the heart of the 1970’s, amid a flurry of feathered hair and flared Jeans, Gru (Steve Carell) is growing up in the suburbs. A fanboy of a supervillain supergroup known as the Vicious 6, Gru hatches a plan to become evil enough to join them. Luckily, he gets some mayhem-making backup from his loyal followers, the Minions. Together, Kevin, Stuart, Bob and Otto-a new Minion sporting braces and a desperate need to please-deploy their skills as they and Gru build their first lair, experiment with their first weapons and pull off their first missions.

The movie Minions: The Rise of Gru was great. There were many amazing songs and references, which my dad tells me are from the 1970’s. This movie also had many very funny parts. All the animations of the minions were great. This movie had a lot of action and didn’t slow down.

Gru is a boy who idles the Vicious 6. The Vicious 6 consist of Wild Knuckles, Belle Bottom, Jean-Clawed, Svengeance, Nun-Chucked (who is pretty scary), and Stronghold. We get to see how he meets the minions and how they help each other. Gru also meets Dr. Nefario for the first time and we also get to see the first gadget Gru gets from him.

Minions: The Rise of Gru revolves around four minions Bob, Kevin, Stuart, and Otto. Bob, Stuart, and Kevin go on a funny journey while Otto goes on a solo side mission that is fun to watch. In this movie there are a lot of different kung fu moments that were fun to watch, as well as plenty of hilarious minion moments that do not disappoint.

I liked Minions: The Rise of Gru because the plot never slowed down and the movie had great storytelling. All in all this was a great movie and I think you should go see it.
