Time for a Reel TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES review

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies is the first theatrical offering based on the Teen Titans Go! television series (hence the creatively entertaining title) which already has five seasons under its belt. Do to its success on Comedy Central, the animated, occasionally edgy, comedy which focuses on a younger generation of DC Comics looking to fight crime on a smaller level, bring a childish level fun and chaos to a franchise that could use a lighter look. Compared to more seasoned superheroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman, these kids are on a whole different level of silliness.

Robin (Scott Menville), Starfire (Hynden Walch), Cyborg (Khary Payton), Raven (Tara Strong) and Beast Boy (Greg Cipes) are frustrated by continuously taken a back seat to the A-listers. When an opportunity to make a name for themselves presents itself in the form of Slade (Will Arnett), the over exuberant teens pounce on the chance to prove themselves. Teen Titans Go! To the Movies gets super silly as it caters to its younger fanbase.

It basically goes like this. If you or your kids are fans of the television series, then Teen Titans Go! To the Movies should be very entertaining. The theatrical version is basically a 93 minute extension of what you see every week. There are jokes, puns and all sorts of fun that will make kids from 5 to 55 giggle. A couple of parts could even lead to some uncomfortable parenting moments after some of the dialogue sinks in. Lines are definitely not crossed, but the writers get about all they can out of a PG rating.

Some kids will have trouble staying focused during “less interesting” parts, but on the whole, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies is a good fit for family fun. Parents just need to remember that the purpose of this movie is not to entertain them specifically, so cut your kids some slack. You can check this one out in theaters now.
